Accessories bring the unique dimension of personalization. We can accessorize and amp up our PDA’s appearance or functionality simply by changing the case or clip; or popping out the latest Bluetooth keyboard or by the choosing the type of stylus we use. Over the next few days, I’ll be reviewing some of my favorite PDA accessories. Accessories have added to my Palm’s life some stylish panache, purposeful practicality, elevated efficiency and peerless protection. I’ve entitled the series of reviews: “The Best of the Best” Palm Accessories.

Brando’s Xema BlueKeyboard is a portable Bluetooth keyboard that sports a sleek silver and black design. It comes enclosed in a black, leather-like case that protects it from short drops and scratches. Upon unlatching the lock, the keyboard opens up. The standard QWERTY keyboard unfolds into two parts. This is a compact design that makes life easier as I’ve had keyboards that unfold 3 ways. The two-fold construction offers more stability and durability. Moreover, it is easier to use.

The leftmost keyboard easily slides into your desired spatial preference. At the top of the keyboard, cleverly hidden from view is the stand used to prop up your mobile device or PDA. Users can easily determine whether or not the keyboard’s Bluetooth function is activated by using the Bi-color LED for Bluetooth connection and power status. The batteries pump in enough juice to keep it powered for 90 hours of continuous operation time; as well as 168 hours of standby time. This keyboard keeps going and going and going.

I have pretty big fingers, but they fit rather snugly and comfortably across the keyboard. The keyboard is a rather impressive piece of hardware that always elicits a “wow” reaction whenever I use it around people. Moreover, since it has Bluetooth functionality, users can not only use this for their Palm, but for other cross-platform Bluetooth devices (Blackberrys, Symbian, Microsoft Pocket PC, other non-Palm operating systems). Just install the proper driver and batteries and you’re all set up. There are a myriad of drivers to choose from: US, UK, Spanish, German and many more!

Brando’s Xema BlueKeyboard is THE portable keyboard for those on the go who don’t always want to lug around their laptop. Its unique design is sporty and sleek and its functionality is powerful and effective. Over the years, I owned several keyboards for my PDA’s but none comes even close the this model.
