Another Book Review
An ebook recommendation about prayer : 'Prayer is a part of the Christian life that many of us struggle with, in terms of how to go about it ; in how much we do and when we do it. The first book I came across that I read specifically on Christian prayer was an ebook - and another old classic at that. It was 'How to Pray' by Dr R.A. Torrey. It's described in it's introduction as 'a world renowned classic', but I hadn't heard of it at all. Torrey wrote from the perspective that many of our prayers are not answered because we don't know how to ask God in the right way. Torrey lived from 1856 until 1928 on this earth and was a well known evangelist, pastor, writer and educator. This book is based on what he'd learned up until I think, 1900 when it was first published. It's not long and is a gem of a little tome on the subject in hand, and inevitably interweaves issues of prayer with the rest of Christian life. The language can seem a bit old fashioned but it's still very readable. I highly recommend this book to you and it's available free at MemoWare.com - here's the link.
(Again if you look around you should be able to find this in a paper version and inexpensively too, I found it on amazon's site for a friend.)
